Yardley Court win Hazelwood Relays
23rd September 2014

On Monday 22nd  September the Yardley Court boys took part in the Hazelwood Cross Country relays.

We had A and B teams selected in the U9, U11 and U13 categories.

Buoyed by the success of the Junior boys at the Rawlinson run on Friday we swept the board, once again winning every age category and getting a 1-2 in the U11 competition!

The U9 competition was the closest as we narrowly edged out Hilden Grange in a thriller. The boys were in teams of four and each completed a gruelling 630m course. Well done to Angus Hall, Felix McArdle-Hodge, Fin Gentry-Potter and Albert Whitlock who all clocked fantastic times.

The U11 race was tight going into the final fourth leg between YC and YC! Fin Croll ran a super-fast time and stretched out a good lead by the end. Well done to Oliver Hill on the first leg, Matthew Taylor and Sebastian Tute in the middle, who all ran with great power and determination.

Our senior boys were also triumphant with Will Tyler running home with a handsome lead by the end. This was built by Alex Freeman, Ben Watkins and new man on the squad Tom Rigney (a good way to start your YC running career!).Overall, this was an impressive performance by our senior boys who are now looking forward to the Junior Knole Run.

Our B team boys were also fantastic and demonstrated the huge strength in depth that we have in cross country running.

It’s all down to that hard work in training! Tuesday lunchtimes and Friday mornings boys, don’t forget!! Very well done to George Holder, Ryan Young, Rohan Brown, Thomas Barry, Lucas Mouat, Freddie Nicolson, Charlie Lockhart, Ollie Croll, Max Irvine, Danny Cloke, George Blackmore and Tom Pitts-Tucker. You did your school proud.
