Junior Knole Run 2014
21st November 2014

This is without doubt the hardest, longest and biggest running event of the year.

We were against 35 schools (state and private) and there were 302 boys competing. A huge field.

Our boys had a magnificent afternoon and our A team finished 2nd (our best ever result), our B team 4th and our C team 12th.

Our A and B teams were the first prep schools home.  They had given this race everything.

Without a doubt, the run of the day came from Matthew Taylor.  Running in a senior (Year 7&8) event as a Year 6 he finished third; given another half a mile he would have reeled in second. This was one of the greatest ever runs from a Yardley Court boy and it was so impressive to see Matthew take it all in his usual nonchalant, modest way.  It was a truly dazzling performance.

We then had Will Tyler 17th, Josh O’Brien 20th, Oliver Hill (another amazing performance from a Year 6 boy!) 21st, Ben Watkins 23rd, Tom Rigney 26th, James Mardon 27th, Tom Pitts Tucker 30th, Alex Freeman 34th, Seb Tute (another Year 6!!) 40th, Drew Beazleigh 71st and Lucas Mouat (also Year 6!!!) 92nd.   To a man they ran with incredible determination and I was hugely proud of each and every one of them.

Now … two events left. Our own Bracken Cup followed by the Nationals. Surely, after today’s amazing performances the boys must believe that they can mount a serious challenge at the Nationals in March.

I believe! Mr C believes!  All the parents believe!

Let’s go for it!
