Literary Laudits
7th January 2015

Following on from the boys’ WW2 success with Mr Macdonald, we thought we would encourage the pupils to enter the Pushkin/FirstNews letter writing competition.

The aim of the competition was to rekindle the lost art of letter writing; an essential skill. Well, our pupils did us proud. Out of hundreds of entries, Tom Pitts-Tucker won the national competition with his hilarious letter to a golfer from the point-of-view of a golf ball. Plus, Isabella Hall and Tom Rigney were both runners up.

Isabella’s poignant letter was from a soldier in the trenches and Tom debated the chicken and egg problem from the point of view of the chicken, Mrs Kentucky! Further to that, Tom Pitts-Tucker now has the daunting but enviable challenge of writing a further article for FirstNews (to be published this January). He will also have the honour of receiving his height in books from Pushkin as a prize for the school library. Overall, a very good start to 2015.
