U11's Netballers score top spot
6th March 2015

After rather an early start for our drive up to Felsted School in Essex, we were all pleased to be greeted by sunshine and a very busy set of netball courts. A total of 36 schools took part in this regional round, split into 4 pools of 9 teams. Derwent Lodge started extremely well, with wins against Highgate, Brentwood Prep and Forest School. The girls continued this fine form throughout the competition, showing strength and determination in both attack and defence, comfortably winning a further 5 matches. This excellent set of performances resulted in Derwent Lodge finishing top of our group with a total of 40 points, the maximum score, meaning automatic qualification for the IAPS national finals; we were all very excited! The final part of the day was a round robin between the top 4 teams from the tournament. The girls faced very strong opposition in all 3 matches, finally finishing 4th overall in the tournament. We now have 1 week to prepare before the national finals which will take place on Saturday 14th March at Roedean School in Brighton. Well done to the following girls on their superb achievement: - Phoebe Strutt, Dottie-Rose Constantin, Sophie Garrard, Scarlett Bonner-Leney, Jasmine Wallace, Tallulah Whitlock, Amelia Honarvar, Phoebe Hollands and Lily Harding. Thanks must also go in particular to Miss Kerr-Sheppard and Mrs Dicks for their relentless support and hard work with the squad.
