National Champions!
16th March 2015

After our strongest season ever, we went to Malvern full of confidence as we sought to become national champions. The course was long, hard and hilly rather like the Knole course. It was certainly going to test the boys’ resolve. Our Under 11 boys were first to run and did not disappoint. We won the overall competition with just 32 points from Ludgrove on 142!
Will we ever again see a team like our 2015 Under 11s? Probably not. But there is some considerable talent coming up!

Matthew Taylor and Fin Croll continued their brilliant rivalry with another one - two, this time Matthew finishing in top spot in a fabulous time of 9:53. They are seriously talented boys! Next in was the ever impressive Oliver Hill (10th), Sebastian Tute (19th), Lucas Mouat (35th) and Ollie Croll (50th). In a field consisting of 61 prep schools that was an outstanding performance from all the boys.

The Under 13s had a long wait before they could run in the last event of the afternoon. We knew we had a large group of boys who would finish well up the field without any in the top ten. The success of the U13s this season has been their consistency and our incredible strength in depth. They all ran very well and with typical determination. They missed out on being national champions by just 3pts from Cheam! Next year so many of that team will carry the baton again and we hope to go one better.

Josh O’Brien was first home in 14th, followed by Tom Rigney (24th), Will Tyler (27th), James Mardon (30th), Ben Watkins (36th), Tom Pitts-Tucker (40th) and Alex Freeman (55th).

Again a fabulous performance from each and every one of our boys competing against the best prep school runners in the country. Win or lose, I am very proud to be in charge of this fine group of boys, it was a great weekend. Every single boy who has represented the school throughout the season in some capacity is part of this success. To be successful you have to work hard, have talent and be determined. It’s a team effort and everyone counts in the overall culture of a team and their successes. We can safely say that we are the number one prep school team in the country. AH
