Superb performances in the Rawlinson Run

The Rawlinson Run brings together a large group of local schools to run, inspire and compete. Somerhill children from Years Two, Three and Four ran magnificently on Friday afternoon, despite heavy rain just minutes before the races began.

Our Pre-Prep Year Two girls and boys charged around the course, sprinting for the line for an impressive finish. George Shirley maintained an excellent pace throughout and was awarded a Silver medal.

Derwent Lodge Year Three girls were all placed in the top 20 runners. Niamh Tarry was awarded a Silver medal and Harriet Raven a Bronze, with team-mates Lara Bailey, Grace Hoeltschi, Martha Tarry and Alice Flint hot on their heels.

Derwent Lodge Year Four zoomed off in their ‘go faster’ striped vests. Lily Slack took an early lead and almost caught the Year Eight hare before crossing the line in first place to claim the Gold medal with an awesome lead. Bella Scott had a very strong run to win the Bronze medal. Eva Mathew, Ella Lockhart, Nina Mickleburgh and Hettie Hall all came home close together contributing to an outstanding team effort.

Yardley Court Year Three picked up the baton of continued YC cross country success. Tristan Page showed real talent, winning his first ever cross country race for YC in fine style. Every runner finished in the top 20 to win the team competition comfortably.

All six Yardley Court Year Four runners were placed in the top 14. Seamus Hamilton sprinted clear of Tom Hobbs to win the Bronze medal and the team came in first place.

Year Three and Year Four Rawlinson team shields as well as the Strongest School shield came home to Somerhill once again. A fantastic start to the cross-country season. Well done boys and girls!
