Harvest Festival
28th September 2015

This morning in our Somerhill Harvest Festival, our pupils and staff reflected on how fortunate we are and how we can share our good fortune in acts of kindness. We understand that everyone needs help at some time in their lives – and that helping others helps us all.

We thank our Somerhill community for giving so generously by donating hundreds of bags of food and almost £200 to Nourish.

Nourish provide food for people in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells who are in real need and have no-one else to turn to. Nourish works with health and social support agencies to ensure that help is given to those genuinely in need and that longer term plans are in place when frequent support is required. Being poor and unable to buy food when you live in an affluent area is particularly hard. There are pockets of our local area that contain higher levels of child poverty than many would imagine.

In our assembly we also heard about individuals who have put themselves forward to stand up for fairness, respect and equality, even when it put them in great danger. We learnt how we too can “Be the change we want to see in the world”.

We were encouraged to ‘Be Kind… Always.’
