The Bracken Cup
6th March 2016

Despite overnight rain, conditions on the parkland were good for cross country running, with glorious sunshine and blue skies. This was Yardley Court's most dominant performance at the Bracken Cup, winning all three age categories for the first time and retaining the Cup for a sixth time. All of the boys were magnificent and ran themselves to exhaustion for the cerise and black of Yardley Court. We could not be prouder of them. The Under 9 boys were particularly impressive. They have become stronger and stronger as a unit throughout the season. Five boys finished in the top ten! Team score = 38 points! Ollie Croll was dominant in the U11 race, with “Shoeless” Marcus Cook in 4th and Oshi Hamilton 5thThe Under 13s won the shield for their age group for the first time ever, finally overhauling the might of The Judd. Their team total of 49 points won the event comfortably. Fin Croll led for much of the race but was overtaken on the “rollercoaster” by old Yardley Courtier Matthew Taylor! It was a fantastic effort from both boys and it was good to see them congratulating each other at the end. James Mardon was an impressive 4th and Tom Rigney posted his best ever run in 5th. Full results can be seen below. The National Cross Country Championships take place a week on Sunday, where we will push hard to retain our U11 title and make it a double win with the U13s also. Today was excellent preparation.
