Tournament Winners
22nd February 2017

Derwent Lodge U11 A's were victorious at the St Michael's tournament, beating off competition from 13 local prep schools. After an excellent start, winning against Sutton Valence and Sevenoaks Prep, they drew 1-1 with King's Rochester. The girls more than met their match, losing 7-4 to an excellent Hazelwood side (these were all 6 minute matches!). DL then regrouped, beating Skippers Hill 4-1 in their last group match.
The results placed the girls second overall in their group, so they were through to the semi final vs Granville. They won 2-1! The girls were in to the finals; only to come back up against the strength of Hazelwood. However with lessons learnt, they knew now what to expect. DL played simple, effective netball and kept possession beautifully. The final result was 1-0 to DL and needless to say both the girls and Miss Hughes were ecstatic. Congratulations to the team; Sophie W, Isla, Katie, Tahlia, Isabella, Olivia, Sophie S and Ottilie.
Derwent Lodge's U11 Blue team also played some excellent netball on the same afternoon, impressing Mrs Hodson-Walker. They won 2, drew 1 and lost 1, making it through to the semi finals against Sutton Valence. After an excellent 2-2 draw, extra time was played, but still there was no winner. Sutton Valence then went through to the finals on goal difference. Of 12 schools, they finished in 4th place overall.
Well done Derwent Lodge. Great skills and teamwork!
