Treasure Chest of Books
14th May 2014

This morning the Year 7 scholars were treated to a literary surprise! Having teamed up with Mr Knight, the Head of English, to put together a challenging and scholarship appropriate reading list, Mrs Smith then presented the books to the boys in a treasure chest, with each book wrapped up as treasure! It stimulated a great response from the boys, who are now eagerly taking up the challenge of reading all eleven books over the next eleven months before they sit the scholarship examinations. The titles included: Alexandre Dumas’ ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’, Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’, Jonathan Swift’s ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ and Virginia Woolf’s ‘Mrs Dalloway’.
