Netball Tournaments

U9A's won Caterham Prep School and St Michael's Tournaments
U10A's won Ryde School, Haileybury, Ashford and Kent College Tournaments

We had a busy year on the netball court and have six lovely trophies in the cabinet for tournament wins.  The U10’s won tournaments at Ryde School, Haileybury, Ashford and Kent College, and the U9’s won at Caterham Prep and St Michael’s, and were also unbeaten at the Ardingly festival.  The U11’s just missed out on qualifying for the National finals when they lost 3-2 to Holy Cross, who went on to win, and earn themselves the accolade of ‘best U11 Prep School team in the country’.

In 100 tournament matches, the shooters scored 375 goals!  Well done to Emelia Hollingsworth, Alice Tyler, Emily Pitts-Tucker, Jasmine Poole, Michaela Holding, Rosie Peachey and Katie Howgill who were responsible for most of these goals.

93 school matches were played, and the teams won 37, drew 13 and lost 43 of these.  Every girl in Derwent Lodge enjoyed playing in netball matches on a number of occasions, and we are proud of the fact that not just the top players experience the thrill of selection; everyone has had a ride on a minibus, super match teas and the camaraderie of being in a team.  Almost every girl has been a team captain, and match reports have been of a very high standard this year.  All girls played in the inter-house netball tournaments, and Grasmere won the senior event, just one point ahead of Windermere.  Coniston won the junior event, two points clear of Ullswater.  The games were played in true Derwent Lodge spirit, with the girls encouraging one another in closely-fought battles and all happy to take turns off court so everyone could play a major part on the day.  Isabel Carter was awarded the Graftan-Grattan netball trophy; Emelia Hollingsworth won the Tappenden cup for netball shooting and Sophie Gardner won the junior netball cup.
