Somerhill Kindergarten

After either two terms or a year in Nursery, the children will move to Kindergarten. This transition is easy because the Kindergarten classes are housed on the opposite side of the courtyard.

The children are already very familiar with their surroundings and increase their time to five mornings a week. They begin to make greater use of our extensive grounds and play areas; they enjoy exploratory walks and observe the changing seasons at Somerhill. They learn through doing and therefore much of the curriculum is planned through practical activities. The pupils enjoy painting and creative artwork, music and dance. The love of books and development of literacy is high on the agenda, as is the understanding and use of number.

Our children enjoy using our Trim Trail, pretending to be jungle explorers! They grow in confidence and entertain parents with a Christmas performance. There is a chance for them to show their sporting expertise during the Summer Term at Sports Morning.

Next our children move on to Reception.
