Swimming: Review for 2010/11

Swimming

The swimming programme continues to develop and progress as more clubs are offered at a variety of levels and more galas are organised to provide competition for our boys.  Boys of all ages swam in a variety of galas against New Beacon, Rose Hill, Holmewood House, St Michael’s and Eltham College.  The boys swam well in all such events and were particularly successful in beating Holmewood House and Eltham.  The improvement in our swimming was evident in the IAPS county trials where we had the following winners:

Christian Thompson-Frost U13: 50m Breaststroke
U13 Medley & Freestyle relay team: Josh Dickinson, Christian Thompson- Frost, George Howard & Iain Lewis
Matthew Newton won the 50m Freestyle and qualified for the National Finals where he finished 13th.

Lower down the school Max Irvine and Siyan Patel (Year Four) and Tom Nicholls (Year Five) really showed their talent in the water, Tom breaking two school records in the House Gala.

That the year has been both successful and enjoyable can be attributed to the enthusiasm of the boys but also the great efforts made by all the Games staff here at Yardley Court. Without the dedication and commitment that you all bring to the sporting programme the boys would miss out on so many wonderful opportunities ...

... thank you all.
