Athletics: Review for 2009/10

Athletics

The athletics season proved to be steady rather than spectacular and we failed to build on either the success of last year or the strong cross country season recorded this year. There were still some notable performances as we competed in matches against Brambletye and Windlesham, at the Tonbridge School invitational event and at the County IAPS Athletics meeting at Ashford. Although we didn’t have any champions this year, we did have several county medallists with George Ankjaer leading the way with a silver medal and the qualifying time for the nationals in the 200m. Further medals were won by the following boys:

Silver

Tim Faes           1500m
Dominic Keats   Triple Jump
Christian Thomson-Frost      High Jump
Harry Rees        1500m
Max Rossiter       Shot

Bronze

Patrick Ankjaer  Shot

Other notable performances include Tom Pincott’s excellent run over 600metres and Chris Adam over 800metres at the Brambletye event. Sam Greehy winning a silver medal over the 200metres at the very competitive Tonbridge invitational event was also a fine achievement. Well done to all the boys who have run, jumped and thrown for the school this term. It was also great to see the boys competing so effectively on a hot sports day.
