Fees & Assisted Places

For our fees by academic year, and information on free early education and sibling discounts, see FEES 23-24.

Please contact our Registrar, Sally Paler, on 01732 375 951, or email the admissions team at admissions@somerhill.org if you have any questions. The team is available on any school day.

Somerhill is committed towards improving access to the School by offering means-tested financial assistance to support eligible parents with the payment of school fees. The School uses an independent company, Bursary Administration Limited (BAL) to review and assess all assisted place applications. This process involves the completion of a confidential application form, a home visit and provision of supporting documentary evidence to establish the financial circumstances of applicants. BAL will then make a recommendation to the Bursar for consideration. All assisted place awards will be reviewed on an annual basis and may be adjusted to reflect changes in parents’ circumstances. Please note that assisted places are only available for Yardley Court (Y3-Y8) and Derwent Lodge (Y3-Y6) not the Pre-Prep.

Please contact our Bursar, Julian Hunt, on 01732 375954 for more information on the assisted places process at Somerhill.

Yardley Court at Somerhill supports the Tonbridge Junior Foundation Scholar for Years 7 and 8. For more information on this, please contact Tonbridge School directly.

*The School is a registered provider of Free Early Education for 3 and 4 year olds. All children (from the term following their 3rd birthday) are eligible to receive a maximum of 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year, regardless of parental income. Parents are only able to claim 32 weeks through Somerhill as that is the number of full weeks in our academic year as designated by KCC. Parents who do not use their full 15 hours may claim the difference through another registered provider. Please note that for children to be eligible for the EYFE funding discount they must be in school between 10.15am – 1.15 pm. Parents only wishing to access 15 hours Free Early Education will be offered 5 sessions from 10.15am until 1.15pm subject to availability, until compulsory school age. The School reserves the right to withdraw from the scheme at any time and will endeavour to give one term’s notice of its intention.

** Depends on the length of term and number of full weeks eligible at 15 hours per week for Free Early Education and will be pro-rated depending on the number of sessions opted for. The lowest fee is for the Michaelmas Term and assumes full receipt of 15 hours maximum Free Early Education during specified sessions. Fees will be adjusted in arrears to reflect actual amounts paid by KCC and sessions attended.
