Derwent Lodge
Why Choose Derwent Lodge

Our prep section for girls aged 7 to 11 is a positive and enriching environment where every pupil is encouraged to challenge herself, discover her potential and celebrate her achievements.

Girls typically move up from Pre-Prep automatically or they can enter directly into Year 3.

Our curriculum and programme of activities offer girls an excellent all-round education that ensures they have the relevant life skills to prepare them for future challenges in the modern world. A Derwent Lodge education gives each girl self-esteem, resilience and a “can do” attitude to life.

With access to all the same opportunities and facilities as the boys in Yardley Court, girls have space to develop their confidence, interpersonal skills, academic abilities and talents with the encouragement of their classmates and teachers. They have the space to think big and develop their strengths.

Through our innovative teaching and small class sizes, we are able to focus on the individual, fostering happiness and nurturing a passion for learning. Our girls are enthusiastic learners who are driven by strong values, displaying kindness and emotional intelligence in abundance. As such they are well equipped for the next stages of their education and indeed their lives.

We are proud of our girls’ excellent academic record, with many going on to win scholarships and attend the local grammar schools. Mrs Sian Lambert takes a close interest in the progress and wellbeing of the pupils and her door is always open to parents who want to discuss anything to do with their daughter’s education.

‘Excellent standards in lessons, in the scholarships and places gained at senior schools. Girls work together exceptionally well and show considerable imagination, independence of thought and flair’ – Independent Schools Inspectorate
