Somerhill hosted its annual 7-a-side football tournament on Saturday and 10 teams were split into two groups and played each in a round robin format within their groups.
Somerhill U9A team won three of their group games against Solefield, The Mead, and Hilden Grange respectively and drew one game against Bickley Park. It meant they finished top of the group and then went into the final against the winner of the other group, New Beacon. Somerhill U9A played their best football in the final and were deserved 2-0 winners and were crowned tournament champions.
Somerhill also entered an U9B into the tournament and they competed well against A teams from Dulwich Prep, Hazelwood, New Beacon and St. Michael’s. The boys secured a win and a draw against Dulwich Prep and St. Michael’s respectively. The group standings took them into a third-place playoff final against The Mead which they narrowly lost. Nonetheless, a great team performance against stronger A teams.
