Harvest Festival
A Message of Giving and Sharing

High Hopes brought our harvest assembly to life for pupils in Years 1 to 8 with an inspiring message of sharing and giving. Year 2 pupils then sang beautifully to the assembled children.

A group of staff and pupils took our food donations to Nourish, the food bank in Paddock Wood, who had this message of thanks for our community:

“It was so lovely to receive your harvest donations on Thursday, and to meet some of your students. We hope that the students learnt a little bit more about what a foodbank is and what it does to help people in our communities. Somerhill has really helped to stock up our shelves ready for a busy autumn and winter ahead. This is the time of year when we depend upon so many churches, schools and businesses to respond to the needs that are becoming more prevalent. We are seeing an increasing number of people who are struggling to balance their family budgets, with a difficult winter ahead for us all.

The amount of your donations weighed in at 653 kgs; a stupendous amount. Please pass our thanks onto everyone who kindly participated in giving, including the maintenance team who brought all the food over to us and helped to unload the many, many trays that had been filled; so that The Community Storehouse can continue giving out to those in our local communities when a little bit of extra help is needed.”
