Somerhill School Concert

Somerhill held its first concert in almost three years just before half-term and what a triumph it was! A huge number of children played a wide variety of instruments, much to the delight of parents and friends.

The benefits of music for children are well documented. Music and child brain development are closely linked, with language, concentration and learning all improved through music. Therefore, it was great to see so many children taking part in our concert, building their confidence and resilience by taking to the stage. Only six of the children had performed in the last school concert, so it was excellent to see so many performing for the first time.

Much of our music work is done behind the scenes and a huge thank you must go to Jane Findlay, Steph Vidler and all the peripatetic teachers, who helped prepare the children for the concert.
