Senior Carol Service at Tonbridge Chapel

Festive spirit and a magical atmosphere always abound at the Senior Carol Service, held at St Augustine’s Chapel, Tonbridge School. Once again, our pupils in Years Five to Eight filled the Chapel with their angelic voices and charmed the congregation with the traditional readings.

The singing was glorious throughout: our two soloists opened the service with an ethereal ‘Once in Royal David’s City’; both the Derwent Lodge carol ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ and Yardley Court’s ‘Gesù Bambino’ were performed beautifully by the school choirs with lovely solos by some of the Derwent Lodge girls; and the adult choir added harmony to the congregational carols. The choristers showcased their musical talents in their singing of ‘The Angel Gabriel’ and ‘Tomorrow shall be my Dancing Day’.

Special thanks to Julian Thomas who played the organ magnificently throughout the service, Jane Findlay for preparing the children so well, and Nicki Barker who conducted brilliantly on the night.
